Burma

Dr San Soo who was working in the U.K. was introduced to the Sterifeed T30 Bench top pasteuriser and instantly saw the benefits it could bring to premature babies back in her home country of Burma. Professor Aye Aye Thein is the head of the department who established the milk bank and distributes the milk to peripheral hospitals. The milk bank at the Central Women’s Hospital in Rangoon is the first milk bank in East Asia.

Wakemed Mothers’ Milk Bank – Raleigh, North Carolina

In April this year we helped install a S180 double pasteuriser at Wakemed Mother’s milk bank in North Carolina. It is a non profit organisation that has been screening donors, collecting, processing and successfully distributing human donor milk since 1992. Milk banking in America is on the rise because of the recognition of the many benefits of human milk and trust in the safety of donor milk, partly due to confidence in pasteurisation equipment. Sterifeed also attended the HMBANA exhibition in Boston where there was considerable interest from around the USA in setting up several new milk banks.
